Little Macy was found tied to the gate at the defunct animal shelter
near Le Galion in October 2004. The vet figures she was about 6 months old.
We immediately knew we had to take this long-legged little fawn back to the
States to find her a home.
In daily walks down Orient beach, 12 pound Macy would challenge some of the friendly
beach dogs to puppy games. She moved like lightning and completely outclassed
all the bigger dogs. During the day, Macy spent long hours stretched out with her dad
on a beach chair at Club Orient. Even the gawkers couldn't resist making eye contact!
Within 24 hours of her arrival in America, Macy had a new home with a family in Maine whose dog had passed away.
She is now the center of attention and after only a month of proper care had taken on her proper weight of 18
pounds-- a 50% increase! Best of all, Macy gets to play frequently with her neighbor Tika,
a St. Martin island cousin who lives nearby.
Here is Macy after 3 1/2 months in Maine. What a fox! Look at the long fur she now has. Yet another
island girl who loves to romp in the snow.
