Gracie's Story
[Back to Index]
 |
Little Gracie was rescued in February, 2005, by SNOB volunteers. This tiny 5-week old pup weighed only 2 pounds.
Nearly bled dry by parasites, Gracie spent several days at the Vet's and received a blood transfusion that saved her life.
She seems to be part poodle. One of the few survivors from a litter of six, this plucky little Island Girl is just about as cute and friendly as they come. She needs her own website!

You can see Gracie here sprawled happily on Orient Beach, sand on her snout, dreaming of her upcoming trip to the US.
Taking Gracie with them to lunch at Bay Watch, the SNOB volunteers found that the usual ten-minute walk took up to an hour each way with people wanting to meet the little black blob.

Gracie had a smooth flight to Newark riding in a carry-on bag in the cabin. After another near riot at
Newark airport (when onlookers spotted her), Gracie took a drive to her new home in Maine. In the first three weeks
of proper care and feeding, Gracie went from 2 pounds to 5 pounds! She loves meeting people, is very obedient, and uses
a litterbox when she can't go outside.
Her legs are longer now and her vet now thinks she may be part schnauzer...which would make her a schnoodle!
On her arrival in New England, Gracie conferred with senior Island Girl Lady, who offered her a few tips on surviving in the snow.
